Datasets

Name

•The name of the dataset is user-defined and can be any combination of alpha-numeric characters, including spaces, up to 60 characters.
•The "Dataset Name" can be edited.
•The dataset name displays in the control center and report headers.

 

Type

The dataset types include:

•PROV - Provision Dataset
oYou create "Provision" datasets to calculate the tax provision.
•EST PYMT - Estimated Payment Dataset
oIn prior versions of the application, you set up a "COMP - Compliance Dataset" to calculate the current liability.
oYou create "Estimated Payment" datasets to calculate the current liability.
•ACTR - Account Reconciliation
oYou create "Account Reconciliation" datasets to calculate the differences between GAAP and IFRS tax provisions.

 

Fiscal Year

Fiscal Year must be assigned to a dataset when created. By default, the current year appears at the top of the list.

 

Fiscal Period

Fiscal Period or Date Range must be assigned to a dataset when created and defines whether the data in a dataset represents a month, several months, a quarter, or a year.

 

Group Rate %

The Effective Tax Rate report uses the group rate as the statutory rate to which the provision reconciles.

 

Case Number

The case number is an optional field and used primarily when exporting data to compliance software.

 

Transaction

1.An Empty dataset is a new dataset that does not contain any data.
2.Copy an existing dataset and all information for the existing dataset resides in the new dataset.
3.Rollover a dataset and the application creates a dataset for the sequential period. The "ending" balances and "rates" in the dataset are the "beginning" balances and "rates" in the rolled over dataset.
4.Combine datasets and the group of datasets generate a single combined dataset. Some limitations apply to the combine functionality. Please review the combined dataset to ensure accurate calculations appear on the reports. The combine function assumes the rates entered for the calculations. Certain entries and balances sometimes differ from a reporting dataset using the same datasets.

 

Apply Data Options

The dataset has either "Tags" or "Classes & Subclasses" depending on the parameters set up in administration.

Source Dataset

•The original dataset used for the copy or rollover of a dataset.
•Depending on the selected "Data Option", available datasets appear with classes or tags, not both.

 

Prior Period Dataset

The dataset used for dataset comparison within the provision "Data Input" pages and "Reporting".

 

Date

When the dataset is created the application applies a date and time stamp.

 

Other Options

The following options can be selected when creating a dataset.

 

Sub-Consolidations

Sub-Consolidations allow you to combine units and create additional views of data.

 

Attachments

You can support data by attaching documentation files data entries.

 

Active Workpapers

You can support data by attaching Active Workpapers files to data entries.

 

My Reports

You can copy custom reports options when adding a dataset.

Report Footnotes

You can copy the report footnotes when adding a dataset.

 

Security Access

You can copy the user"s permissions when adding a dataset.

 

Data Source History

You can copy the data source history when copying a dataset.

 

Clear Global Access Sign-off

You can clear global access sign-off when copying a dataset.

 

Copy Notes

When adding a dataset you can select the option to copy the notes.

 

Scrunch Temp Diffs

You can "Scrunch" data when creating a dataset. The "Tag" or "Classes" selected during the "Scrunch" process appear for informational purposes.

 

Read-Only

•Upon completion of data entry, secure the data by selecting Read Only (R/O) for the dataset.
•Review data in "Read Only" datasets. You cannot edit datasets assigned the "Read Only" status.
•A warning "No Edit Allowed" appears on data entry screens for datasets with "Read Only" permissions.

 

Archived

Archived datasets are similar to Read-only datasets. An archived dataset will not appear as a selection in the "Control Center" for Data entry, Transfer and Reporting.

 

Search Datasets

To filter the dataset list, enter alpha-numeric information and a new list immediately generates.

•Type 2013 in "Search Datasets" and the application lists all datasets with 2013 in the name column.
•Click the red X in "Search Datasets", to Clear the information in that field.

 

Import Datasets

To import a new dataset, complete the appropriate fields on the #CD# Datasets sheet in the import categories template.
