Data Input Levels

There are different hierarchical levels for transferring data. For example, a spreadsheet that is attached at the dataset level transfers data to and from multiple units. When attached at the federal/state level (line item level), the spreadsheet is assigned to the dataset, unit, state, and component type.

There are four levels in which an Active Workpapers are attached to the application: Dataset, Federal, State, and Component.

Federal

Active Workpapers for Federal information is set up in the Dataset, Federal, and Component levels.

To set up Active Workpapers at the Component level:

1.Click the Active Workpapers button in each component: Perm Diffs, Amortized Perm Diffs, Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, Temp Diffs - Book/Tax Basis, AT Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, AT Temp Diffs - Book/Tax Basis, Tax Adjustments, and NOL Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, PTBI.

Active Workpapers in the Component level is overridden by editing information at the Federal level.

To override the Component level:

1.Select Data Input and then Federal.
2.Select Active Workpapers.

To override the Federal or Component level:

1.Select Data Input and then Dataset.
2.Select Active Workpapers.

State

Active Workpapers for State information can be input through the Dataset, State, and Component levels.

To set up Active Workpapers at the Component level:

1.Click the Active Workpapers button in each component: State Perm Diffs, State Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, State After App Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, State After Tax Temp Diffs - Tax Basis, and State Tax Adjustments.
2.Select Active Workpapers.

 

Active Workpapers in the Component level is overridden by editing information at the State level.

To override the Component level:

1.Select Data Input and then State.
2.Select Active Workpapers.

To override the State or Component level:

1.Select Data Input and then Dataset.
2.Select Active Workpapers.

Notes:

•If you add a Dataset level Active Workpapers, the Dataset detail, Federal detail, and State detail are all available.
•If you add a Federal level Active Workpapers, the Dataset detail is not available.
•If you add a State level Active Workpapers, the Dataset or Federal detail is not available.
