Active Workpapers enable you to use spreadsheet technology to transfer data to and from ONESOURCE Tax Provision. You select Action commands to transfer data between the spreadsheet and the application.
The Action commands include:
| • | GET: Active Workpapers transfers data from the application for the active cells when the spreadsheet file is open. The GET command is used with calculated values, as well as raw data. |
| • | SET: The application transfers data from the spreadsheet to the application for the active cells when the spreadsheet file is saved/closed. |
| • | SYN: Activates the GET and SET Actions for a component. When a file is opened, data transfers from the application to the spreadsheet. When a file is closed, the data transfers from the spreadsheet to the application. |
The cell color represents the GET, SET and SYN Actions:
Read Only Datasets
| • | You can transfer data from a read-only dataset with the GET Action. |
| • | You cannot use the SET and SYN Actions with read-only datasets. |
| • | If you select the SET or SYN Actions with a read-only dataset the following message appears At least one of the datasets is Read-Only. Your changes cannot be saved. Do you want to discard your changes? Click Yes to discard changes. Click No to cancel. |
IMPORTANT: Active Workpapers is available for ONESOURCE Tax Provision v6.0 and up. This feature is available for Provision, Estimated Payments, and Interim datasets.
